Roheeni Saxena, PhD, MPH, CPH

Dr. Roheeni Saxena (she/her) is a Professor of Practice in Population Health & Leadership at the University of New Haven, where she teaches biostatistics, environmental epidemiology, and health analytics. She holds a Ph.D. and MA in Environmental Health Sciences from Columbia University, an MPH in Sociomedical Sciences, and is certified in public health (CPH). A prolific grant writer who is widely published (H-index: 12, i10 Index: 13), she helped launch Columbia’s new MPH program in 2012 and brings extensive expertise in curriculum design and program evaluation.

Beyond academia, Roheeni has built a thriving practice specializing in executive function coaching and evidence-based educational interventions for students with learning differences, including ADHD, brain injuries, and other cognitive challenges. Her extensive network in NYC’s creative and entertainment communities, developed through years of professional performance work, offers unique partnership opportunities for PROUD Academy students interested in the arts.

As someone deeply committed to inclusive education and mental health advocacy, Roheeni brings a critical health sciences perspective to PROUD Academy’s mission. She believes that creating affirming educational spaces must include support for the many LGBTQ+ youth who are also neurodivergent or managing mental health challenges.

Roheeni lives in rural Connecticut with her two dogs and is excited to contribute her expertise to help PROUD Academy become a model for inclusive, affirming education.
