Maria (she/her) received her bachelors degree from New York University and her J.D. from Georgetown University Law center. She is currently Vice President and Associate General counsel at The Hartford. Before joining the Hartford in 2011, she practiced at two local firms in products liability and insurance defense. Her current work focuses on the intersection of law and technology, particularly the use of AI and predictive modeling in insurance practices. She speaks often on this topic at industry conferences.
Maria was formerly the board chair at the YWCA Hartford Region, a 150+ year old nonprofit dedicated to eliminating racism and empowering women. She volunteers with Election Protection Coalition & Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, a national, nonpartisan organization that ensures that all voters have an equal opportunity to vote and have that vote count.
Maria and her husband are the parents of two boys, one of whom is trans.She is passionate about ensuring that all children have access to a safe, affirming, quality education.
