Tameka Mack-Grant M.Ed.

Recognizing that education equals freedom, my goal is to be in a position that provides top quality education for all students, who will be prepared to compete for seats in top colleges.  As an educator, I work hard every day to close gaps in education.  These gaps include knowledge, skills, motivation, environmental, communication and achievement.  I will always work in a school that believes all children regardless of economic status, race, ethnicity, or gender identity–can succeed if they have access to a great education.  It is my hope that the students I work with have both the academic and character skills to achieve success in post-secondary endeavors and become leaders in their community.

Educators are vital in shaping our lives.  I thank the educators and staff of Ansonia Public Schools who shared, along with my family, in shaping my life and helping me realize the importance of an education.  It is because of them that I graduated from Ansonia High School; earned a B.A. from the University of Connecticut; obtained a Masters in Teaching from Sacred Heart University; and completed my Sixth Year Certificate in Educational Leadership from the University of Connecticut.

My grandfather once told me “get as much education as you can – that is something no one can take away from you.”  When I asked him what he meant, he reminded me that there was a time that everyone did not have access to education, a luxury he did not want me to take for granted nor forget.

After 25 plus years in education, I remain motivated to continue in this field because I deeply believe my efforts and values are carried forward and reflected in the lives of my students. “What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal.” Albert Pike
